Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
Cleaning The Product
Wood is a living material, in spite of the superior quality timber species we use, it has to constantly adapt to changes in temperature and humidity, in order to keep your furniture in peak condition it will require regular maintenance.
Regular Cleaning
To ensure your "Providence Outdoor Furniture" always looks its best, clean it regularly with a damp cloth.
To remove stubborn dirt, simply use a soft brush and water with a bit of "Providence Wood Cleaner Detergent".
Never use a high-pressure washer to clean your outdoor furniture.
Thorough cleaning and re-application of “Providence Wood Protector"
It is essential to give your outdoor furniture a thorough clean and re apply “Providence Wood Protector” at least four times a year if it is completely exposed to the elements or once a year if it is on a sheltered covered patio.
We recommend cleaning your furniture on a humid cloudy day which allows the wood to dry out slowly.
Dampen the surface of your furniture using a garden hose, mix some of our "Providence Wood Cleaner Detergent” into a bucket of water and using a soft brush scrub the furniture in the direction of the wood grain, rinse thoroughly to remove all the foam and allow to dry for 24 hours.
Once dry, rub the wooden parts of the furniture down using a grey “Providence Scouring Pad” and clean off all the dust with a blower or a clean dry cloth.
When doing maintenance we recommend applying 2 coats of our “Providence Wood Protector” using the following method:
Apply the first coat of “Providence Wood Protector” to the wooden parts only with a soft cloth or paint brush and leave this to penetrate for 15 minutes then wipe off the excess with a clean dry cloth.
Allow the "Providence Wood Protector” to become touch dry before applying another coat.
Apply the second coat using the same method, remembering to wipe off any excess after 15 minutes.
If you prefer a more matt finish you can go over the freshly oiled touch dry furniture very lightly with grey “Providence Scouring Pad” and wipe it afterwards with a clean dry cloth.
Leave this to cure and become completely dry before use. (Please note that this may take a few days depending on the relative humidity of the area you are in, the finish may remain slightly tacky, as the finish cures the tackiness will disappear)
