Russell Thompson
More than 30 years ago, Russell Thompson began building and selling furniture by hand, guided by a straightforward belief: if something is worth making, it’s worth making properly.
A maker at heart, Russell built his reputation through hard work, uncompromising craftsmanship, deep material knowledge and a hands-on approach that never sacrificed quality. His decades of experience across furniture manufacturing, shopfitting and millwork, and his understanding of how pieces should perform, age and endure, continue to shape the standards behind the work today.

Peter Thompson
Today, the next chapter of Providence Outdoor Furniture and Fundamental Designs is being led by Peter Thompson, son of founder Russell Thompson and Director of the business.
After seven years of study and two degrees, Peter joined the company with strong technical expertise and a clear understanding of what it means to step into a 30+ year business built on hard work, consistency and commitment. With respect for its foundations and a clear vision for growth, he is focused on taking the business to the next level.
Working alongside Russell, he draws on decades of hands-on manufacturing knowledge, practical experience and a shared belief in doing things properly. No shortcuts. No compromise on quality. Just a strong work ethic and a commitment to building things that last.
Together, Russell and Peter represent something increasingly rare, a multi-generational family business built through years of dedication and craftsmanship focused on strengthening its legacy for the next generation.
